![]() ![]() The Family Group Sheet is another common type of descendant report. ![]() Always curious if there is a better system out there. The numbering system used on ancestor reports and ancestor charts is the same and this means you can match up people quite easily. Just out of curiosity what program did you get your number from. I had started to add these to my tree here but realized it would be confusing to anyone else working on the tree as the system is specific to my "family" mainly because I have to set the origin point and everything flows from there. The numbering of the genealogy lineages in this book is somewhat arbitrary in sequence, although the lines were usually initially numbered from the most. And by looking at the numbers I can get a feel for how closely related that person is to me. This was something I was wrestling with about a year ago and finally found a numbering system that gives me the flexibilty to number all my ancestors and descendants but also is flexible enough to grow as my tree grows, and can be expanded out into "married" branches of my tree. If there was one unviversally accepted code system that would be one thing - not found one myself but would love to know if one exists - but there are literally hundreds of genealogical numbering systems, not only associated with every family tree program out there, but also ones you can implement yourself. its all too easy to make assumptions about your ancestors actions. I would think one "hang up" to implementing this is "What is the source of the numbering code?". Like the Anhentafel, though, this option uses a numbering system to organize people.
